As a young boy I was interested in the Bible, but had no idea of what it all really meant. I wasn’t raised in a religious way, but I always wondered about God and Jesus. My early life was very unsettled and traumatic, and by the age of twelve I was already heavily involved with using drugs to escape from my reality
By the age of 12 I was already heavily involved with using drugs
By 25 I was totally burnt out and searching for a solution that seemed impossible to find. I called out in prayer to God one night and was soon approached by a person from the Dunedin Revival Centre who told me about God's salvation. He said that If I wanted to be right with God I would have to be baptized underwater and also receive the ‘Holy Spirit’ with the evidence of speaking in tongues, just like the Christians in the Bible.
I was excited about these ideas
I was excited about these ideas and decided to attend a meeting at the local RCI here in Dunedin. I was encouraged to ask and pray to God to give me this ‘Holy Spirit’ experience. You can imagine my amazement when I spoke in tongues for the first time that day when I was praying to God! I immediately knew that God was real and now with me, and I also noticed that I could read the Bible with a new, clear understanding.
My mind was instantly healed
My mind was instantly healed one day soon after this when I was suddenly changed as I was talking with a friend about God’s ways. He actually saw me change right there in-front of him and he just said “Transformation!”
I was healed of my addictions
I was healed of my addictions, and for eight years now I’ve been amazed at how God works in my life every day to comfort, guide, and empower me. It’s the ultimate experience!
