Lucia                                                Slupsk, Poland

My name is Lucia and I am from Switzerland.  I grew up in a protestant family. I remember going to church with my parents on Sunday but I could never feel the power of  God there.  Even though I had a nice family and I had everything I needed, I often felt unhappy and thought  that there was something missing in my life. I always believed in God and after I stopped going to the protestant church I looked into different New Age philosophies, but even though some of those theories were very interesting I didn’t know which God to pray to when I was in need.

When I was 19 years old I had the possibility to travel around Australia. During my trip I met Konrad who became my husband later. He told me about friends of his who were going to the Revival Centres in Morwell, near Melbourne. We went to stay with these friends and I remember how amazed I was. They spoke about God as if they knew Him personally. I went to a meeting and when I walked into the building where the meeting was held, I knew that here I would finally find answers. I had a strange feeling as if my heart was growing bigger.  They people there told me that they had received the Holy Spirit like the apostles during the day of Pentecost, with the evidence of speaking in tongues.

After a week I had to go back to Switzerland, but I didn´t forget what I had seen and heard in Australia and a few months after I was invited to go to a Revival Centres camp in Italy in summer 2001. Once more I felt really well amongst the people there and they encouraged me to pray for the Holy Spirit which I did and a few moments after I spoke in tongues, a language I couldn´t understand and  I had not learnt before. I knew that I had received the Holy Spirit and I knew now that God really cared for me!

Two days later I got baptized by full immersion in a very cold mountain lake.

Without someone telling me, I stopped using swear words and I started to read the Bible and it suddenly made sense.

Konrad and I have been married for 8 years and we have been living in Poland (where Konrad is originally from) for the last three years. Moving to Poland was not easy. But even thought Poland doesn´t have such a high standard of living, the Lord has provided jobs for us and we are not lacking anything.

I thank the Lord for always looking after me, no matter what comes along in our lives.
