I was living in my home town Nambucca Heads in 1981 surfing 3 times a day, healthy eating, unemployed and trying to find fulfillment in my life when a surfing friend told me he had experienced 2 distinct miracles of provision in his life.

I did not know whether God was real or not, but on the strength of our friendship I continued to listen. I thought that "if" there was a God, this would have to be the right way to live. I was told I needed to be "Born Again" to be right with God I thought that the only way to find out was to go to a meeting, get fully involved and ...maybe somehow I 'll find God as I knew nothing about the Bible and nothing about God.
I did not know whether God was real or not
I attended a fancy dress dinner night with music, food and a packed hall on the Gold Coast and heard other people share their stories on how God had made himself known to them and helped them throught their lives. I was very impressed and started to pray to God which was very dificult and when asked decided to be baptised in water in the ocean at Palm Beach. I suddenly realised I was now commited to finding out whether God was true and prayed to receive the Holy Spirit...and it happened,

I too spoke in tongues ...another language I had never learned and felt immediately different. In fact the next day the 30th of november 1981 I went surfing at Burleigh Heads and I could not believe how joyful and happy I felt and that all these new thoughts about god were rushing through my mind. It was startling, yet wonderful. From this point I realised something really big had happened, I could now read and understand the bible, I prayed in tongues and prayers were answered,

I had a new friends that became family and I learnt that the bible was true. Some years later I met my future wife Alison at a church camp as she had just been baptised and filled with Gods Spirit..... a year later we were married. Now after 25 years of marriage and family life with 6 children ( 5 of our own children asked God for the Holy Spirit and received it and were baptised as well) God has proven to me that His way works very well and I have always had a peace and assurance and this evidence proves to me that an eternal life with God is true.
